IFEX IMMOBILISING FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM

Introducing the IFEX RC (Immobilising Fire Control) system which has been designed for use by the police, border control, special forces, military police and corrections officers.

Fire & Rescue New Zealand is thrilled to provide government departments with access to a revolutionary immobilising, both effective and efficient, that has no rival in traditional immobilising control equipment. Whilst overseas government departments put down prisoners, control riots and demonstrations using many different types of immobilising methods i.e. water cannons, CS gas, pepper spray etc being some of the most common.

There is a need, however, for immobilising equipment that can discharge, from a safe distance, an immobilising agent which also has the ability to extinguish small incidental but associated fires efficiently and quickly. The IFEX RC (Immobilising & Fire Control) System is the only equipment that can fulfil these specific requirements.

The IFEX RC System is specially designed rapid intervention tool which will assist Advanced Control and Restraint teams to gain access to cells, put down and rescue prisoners who threaten to harm themselves and others and to put out fires within a prison environment. The risk of wounds is very low because only water, and no solid matter, is used. The Impulse RC technology is based upon the principle of discharging small amounts of water fired in high velocity vaporous bursts that can travel up to 120 meters per second. The Impulse Riot Control application consists of an impulse gun and a backpack unit with a 13 Litre water reservoir, air pressure cylinder, regulator and flexible hoses with snap on connections.

The video below shows the British Police evaluating the unit and it's effectiveness against confined space (e.g. a prison cell) situations. In the video the agressor is quickly (and genuinely) suppressed with only 1 Litre of water. Caution - Contains Strong Language. Double-click the image for a full screen display.

“The IFEX Immobilising Fire Control System will ultimately improve life safety and property protection today and tomorrow,” said Fire Chief Osborne of Fire & Rescue New Zealand.
