These skill development programmes provide participants with the confidence and knowledge to perform the skills of the position and play an active role in ensuring for the safety of themselves and others whilst carrying out delegated duties appropriate to their role in the workplace.
They also assist management in meeting their statutory obligations in respect of training and addressing their general duty of care pursuant to the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Fire Service Act 1975, the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, the Fire Safety and Evacuation of Building Regulations 2006 and subsequent amendments, and Australian and New Zealand Standards.

All training is aligned to a NZQA Units of Competence and Qualifications. Fire & rescue New Zealand provides flexible options to your training needs, including recognition of prior learning (RPL).
Not only are we committed to making industry safer, we also want to encourage members of the community to take advantage of first aid, fire and workplace emergency response training courses so that they can be prepared if a fire or accident occurs, they too can be a lifesaver.
