CONTRACTED RURAL FIRE SERVICES

Fire & Rescue New Zealand offers the following fee for service Fire Control for Rural Fire Authorities, land managers and property owners:

CONTRACT RURAL FIRE CREW

Fire & Rescue New Zealand represents the next generation in contract wildfire suppression. Our crew is available for wildfire control services. 

Upon request, we can supply rural firefigthers, pumps, hose, water tanks, and fuel to suppress fire alongside and in cooperation with Local Government volunteer Rural Fire Fighters and New Zealand Fire Service Fire fighters. 

All crews arrive on a fire better equipped than most volunteer fire fighters and are self sufficient for the first 24 hours.

Fire & Rescue New Zealand is staffed exclusively by professional Rural Fire Fighters, that is what makes us the best suited to help you defend your assets, home and property against Wildfire.

Our rural firefigthers, keep current on all necessary certifications to include NRFA recognised training standards and our rural fire appliances are equipped with Air to ground and Fire Ground Communications Equipment to stay in constant communication with Operations.

WILDFIRE RISK ASSESSMENT SERVICES

A trained professional Rural Fire Officer will visit your home or property and provide a wildfire risk assessment. This is an essential step in anticipating fire behaviour and to tailor a specific plan to optimise your property’s chances of surviving a fire threat.

By supplying a fully equipped team of 6 to 24 Rural Fire Fighters, Fire & Rescue New Zealand will successfully, safely and efficiently complete projects of varying size and complexity for individual homeowners or large organizations.

FUEL REDUCTION SERVICE

Each summer, wildfires pose a significant threat to communities in rural areas, and on the rural-urban interface.

If it's your property, it's your fuel and you are legally responsible for reducing hazards. Under the Forest and Rural Fires Act, land managers and owners are responsible for carrying out hazard reduction to protect existing dwellings, buildings or other assets susceptible to fire.

Fire & Rescue New Zealand offers rural fire authorities, land managers and owners with offers advice and hazard reduction (hand clearing, mechanical clearing and prescribed burning) services aimed at reducing fuel loads around houses and other assets. .

If you are concerned about bush fire hazards on your property, or the property adjacent to you, Fire & Rescue New Zealand can provide advice regarding preparing your property against wildfires and what to do in the event of a wildfire. This advice is free and can be arranged by contacting our office and speaking with one of our officers.
