FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING / REFRESHER

 

TARGET AUDIENCE – This course is designed for personnel in all workplaces who could berequired to undertake first response to fire incidentsrequiring the use of portable fire extinguishers and hose reels. 

 

AIM – To assist employees to overcome any reluctance to act in an emergency, recognise and take immediate action to initiate emergency evacuations and carry out initial attack fire suppression actions in the home and workplaceuntil the New Zealand Fire Service or Rural Fire Brigade arrives.

PREREQUISITES –The expected duration to complete this face to face course is 3 - 4 hours+ precourse assignment.

 

COURSE FEES –This service is delivered on a Flat Fee for this servicebasis, at a cost of $900 + GST per course for up to 20 staff at your site. This fee covers the cost of professional tuition, assessment, use of equipment, certificates & reporting of NZQA credits. A travel and accommodation surcharge will apply for bookings outside of Hawke’s Bay.

 

COURSE CONTENT – This "Hands-On” practical Lifesaving knowledge and skills programmecovers types of fire, triangle of fire, types and operation of portable and fixed fire suppression equipment, fire fighting techniques.

 

PRACTICAL LIVE FIRE EXERCISES – Finally we tie all the theory into a practice by allowing students to extinguish controlled fires of different types and intensity using our live fire simulator. This provides participantswith an opportunity to experience using extinguishers and hose reelssimilar to those used in their workplace.

 

ASSESSMENT – Progressive theory and practical assessments throughout the course, based on the EMQUAL assessment criteria of each unit standard, including oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge and practical practical fire fighting skills. 

 

CERTIFICATION – Participants who are deemed competent against the NZQA assessment criteria of each unit standard, will be awarded an Fire Suppression in the Workplacecertificateand be credited with the above unit standards on their NZQA Record of Achievement to validate that they have received structured training in accordance with AS3745 and the procedures on safety and operation set down by the host employerpursuant to the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act, the Fire Service Act, the Fire Safety and Evacuation of Building Regulations.
