PRACTICAL HANDS ON LIVE FIRE TRAINING
If you are looking to train your staff exclusively on how to use portable fire extinguishers, hose reels, and fire blankets, then our practical (at your site) on fire safety and LIVE fire skill development programme has been designed specially for this purpose to improve fire safety within your workplace.
Fire & Rescue New Zealand’s Fire Safety skill development programme is designed for persons who may have to use portable fire extinguishers, hose reels and fire blankets in Industrial premises, Offices, Shops, Hotels, Schools and residential care homes .
This practical hands-on course which also involves a PowerPoint presentation will provide all members with greater fire safety awareness and is designed to increase their confidence in the action to take in case of a fire occurring. They will learn about the theory of combustion and causes of fire and the way to fight fire, including the types and correct use of fire extinguishers.
In addition, enrolled candidates will gain valuable hands-on practical live fire experience use our Live Fire training simulator, whereby the will learn how to use portable fire extinguishers, hose reels and fire blankets safely and effectively.
LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS
If your employees are expected to use portable fire extinguishers and hose reels in an emergency, then the Occupational Health & Safety Act requires that they are properly trained. Fire Safety and Evacuation training drills are required upon initial employment and at least annually thereafter.
Our training will provide you with the reassurance that your employees are prepared to use a Fire Extinguisher, Hose Reel and Fire Blanket properly. This will make your facility a safer place to work and provide protection to your valuable property while avoiding costly downtime.
DURATION & VENUE
In a little over one hour we can train a small to medium size business and keep your company compliant. The Fire Safety programme carried out in your workplace to reduce downtime. All course material, handouts and extinguishers are provided for a maximum of 20 candidates . Your employees will remember what they’ve learned because nobody trains like Fire & Rescue New Zealand.
FIRE SIMULATOR
These training courses are delivered on site within the grounds of your premises (in an open space equivalent of 2-3 car parking spaces) using our
Mobile LIVE FIRE
Simulator system.
Our live fire training system uses smart technology to determine if the student is applying the extinguisher with the correct technique and is equipped with an emergency-stop switch and motions sensors to make this system the safest live-fire simulator in the world.
This allows us to demonstrate safe practices on a number of different types of fires and provides firsthand experience to the participants in a safe and controlled environment, using our Live Fire Simulator.
CERTIFICATION
Employees who successfully complete the course and are deemed competent will receive a Fire Suppression in the Workplace certificate and be credited with unit standards 3271 and 4647 to validate that they have received structured Fire Extinguisher training in accordance with AS3745 and the procedures on safety and operation set down by the host employer pursuant to the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act, the Fire Service Act, the Fire Safety and Evacuation of Building Regulations.
These certificates are sent directly to your office within a few days of the training course, and are valid for one year and must be renewed annually. Fire & Rescue New Zealand will keep a roster of all employees who have completed the training and contact you when employees need to be re-certified.
SKILLS MAINTENANCE
When staff are appointed they must attend the Initial Fire Safety training to gain the necessary knowledge to perform their role safely, and then annually attend a refresher training session to keep up to date with any legal/procedural changes. Please enquire in relation to how we can assist with evacuation exercises and associated refresher training as detailed in NZS9232:1991/AS3745.
INVESTMENT
Prices charged are per course, not per delegate. Thus, clients can achieve cost effective training by maximising the number of delegates on each course, subject only to the safe size of the room. Costs may vary due to venue and location and will be quoted as applicable.
